Library

Several great on-line libraries catering to the energy world, including efficiency and conservation, exist in Alaska:

Alaska Building Science Network has a plethora of free downloadable documents relating to the science of building (or retrofitting) efficiently and in a climate appropriate way.

Alaska Center for Energy and Power has a searchable database of presentations, papers and reports.

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation’s Research Information Center (RIC) includes a searchable on-line library.  You can also visit the library in person at AHFC’s Anchorage office (corner of Tudor and Boniface).

If you’re in the Fairbanks area, the Cold Climate Housing Research Center offers an in-house library full of reference materials for use on-site relating to energy efficiency and building design in the north.

Green Star has some commercial sector specific tip sheets for improving energy efficiency.

University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Services also has a respectable number of articles catalogued relating to energy efficiency in Alaskan homes.  Go to their publications catalogue, type “energy efficiency” in the search box, and you’ll find a long list of relevant articles.
