AHFC Weatherization Program                                                                                  

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) administers a home weatherization program that offers free energy efficiency improvements to low-income houses statewide.

Several Program Providers operate the program throughout the state by region, and residents interested in taking advantage of the program should contact the provider nearest to them. More information is available on the AHFC website:

 

AHFC Home Energy Rebate Program

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) also administers a home energy rebate program without income requirements that offers a rebate up to $10,000 for qualifying energy efficiency improvements statewide.  More information is on the AHFC website:

 

AHFC Energy Efficiency Interest Rate Reduction Program (EEIRR)

To promote energy efficiency in new or remodeled homes AHFC offers interest rate reductions.  Properties must be eligible for AHFC financing and have the ability to be energy rated to qualify for the program.  Interest rates could be reduced by as much as .250%!!  For more information, go to the AHFC website.

AHFC Second Mortgage Program for Energy Conservation

After receiving an energy audit, home owner-occupants can finance energy improvements using this program.  The maximum loan term is 15 years and maximum loan amount $312,750.  For more information, go to the AHFC website.

AHFC Appliance Rebate for Alaskans with Disabilities

Alaskans with disabilities are eligible for between $150 and $500 rebates for the purchase of certain Energy Star appliances.  Go to the AHFC website for more information.  To meet the program closeout end date of February 12, 2012, AHFC will accept issued vouchers postmarked by January 15, 2012. Vouchers postmarked after this date will not be accepted.

Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency

Find out if your energy efficiency improvements qualify you for a tax credit on your 2011 tax return at the Energy Star website.  

There are no 2012 Federal tax credits for energy efficiency improvements at this time.
