Working with Chris Duguay was a real pleasure. His knowledge and understanding of our current situation and the things we can do to imoprove, are excellent. He was very courteous and non intrusive during the audit process. We are extremely pleased with our report and will be implementing the majority of his suggestions over the next few years as funding is available.

I have to give this audit a middling grade. Clearly the effort was there to understand the building envelope and I have a better understanding of the building as a result. I don’t feel the heating system was fully understood. I wanted to know if it was more cost effective to use electric or oil options in the existing system, if non-functioning unit heaters should be re-commissioned, and what was highest priority/most energy/cost efficient in converting an aging (going on 50 years) legacy pneumatically controlled system to DDC controls.
Recommended measures didn’t include full cost. I can’t re-insulate interior walls with r-30 foam without paying the cost of “coverings”. Sheetrock, tape and paint would double the projected cost. “Air tightening” was pegged at a nice round number and followed by a list that would cost three times that number. I would like to have seen thermal imaging used (especially cause a thermal imager could have located big leaks in our return air systems). Thermal images of air/heat leakage would create specific actionable priorities.
I find myself having to defend to management different choices than the ones recommended in the audit – with no numbers to back me up. Thats a step backwards.

Chris Duguay spent a full day on-site. His report and analysis was thorough. He has provided adequate time to answer our followup questions and explain details of his analysis. Chris has a depth of experience and understanding of building science. He has passion for the work which is apparent when discussing a building’s components.
I would give him and his work a high recommendation.

Chris Duguay of One Island Energy did a great job on the Energy Audits for the two churches where I am pastor: St Catherie of Siena, Petersburg and St Rose of Lima, Wrangell, Alaska. We had long a detailed conversations about the options we could use to improve the energy efficency of these houses of worship. The detail in the report was really great and pinpointing the best places to start to get the most payback for money spent.
Chris Duguay is easy to work with and always answered retuened my calls and eMails in a timely manner. The Parish council is very pleased with the Energy Audit and are making plans to act on many of the recomendations.
