Not convinced that his recommendation for our main area of cost savings was valid. Not enough documentation provided to justify his conclusions. Very professional, but ultimately the audit wasn’t as useful as we hoped.

The Nortech crew was very knowledgable and personable while performing the audit. They have also stated they will give us more detailed info on EEM’s we plan to implement. The main report does not give much new insight. Sealing doors and windows, replacing light bullbs, basic stuff. One item that was brought to our attention is the inadequacy of our HRV, which was a result of the blower door test. The thermal imaging and blower door tests were the most revealing part of the audit. This was not part of the basic audit and we had to request this and pay extra for it. I think this should be standard for all but the most rudimentary audits.

While we were happy with the final product, we are hesitant to recommend this energy auditor to others. We found them quite unprofessional in terms of meeting promised deadlines and responding to emails and phone calls.

I suspect this was a result of them being over committed on other audits, but they simply shouldn’t have sought or accepted our business if they couldn’t deliver what they promised.

Senior Civil Engineer David Lanning was knowledgeable and personable during the three days that he was in Juneau conducting our audit; he offered valuable insight and seemed truly interested in helping us develop a plan to reduce energy costs where it made sense.
